here’s a funny thing that happens after a woman finishes her session.
She walks in with all the usual doubts.
“I’m nervous.”
“I don’t know what I’m doing.”
“I’m not really photogenic.”
“Maybe I should have waited until I lost some weight.”
“I almost cancelled.”
And then?
She sees herself.
Really sees herself.
And suddenly, the woman who spent so much time questioning whether she was ready is staring back at herself like, “Oh. There you are.”
Because boudoir was never really about the lingerie.
It was about the woman underneath all the reasons she thought she couldn't do it.
And these are the things I hear over and over again after a session.
Yep.
This one gets me every damn time.
Because usually what she's really saying is:
“I wish I hadn't spent so long waiting to feel worthy.”
Waiting until her body changed.
Waiting until life calmed down.
Waiting until the kids were older.
Waiting until she felt more confident.
Waiting for the perfect time.
Here's the bitch of it: there is no perfect time.
There is only the moment you decide that your life is happening now.
You don't get those years back.
So stop treating your future self like she's the only version of you deserving of beautiful things.
She deserves them.
And so do you.
Right now.
Because you were probably busy taking care of everyone else.
You were being a mom.
A wife.
A partner.
An employee.
A business owner.
A daughter.
A friend.
A million things to a million people.
And somewhere along the way, you became the person you kept putting at the bottom of the list.
Until one day you finally said:
“Fuck it. I'm doing something for me.”
And look what happened.
You laughed.
You played.
You felt sexy.
You felt powerful.
You remembered that you're allowed to take up space.
Maybe you didn't need another year to become her.
Maybe you just needed permission to remember she was already there.
Oh, sweetheart.
It is.
That's the whole damn point.
That woman you've been looking at in the photographs?
She's not some magically improved version of you.
She's not someone you have to become.
She's you.
The confidence.
The softness.
The strength.
The sensuality.
The fire.
The woman you thought disappeared somewhere between life, responsibilities, heartbreak, aging, motherhood, relationships, and everything else life threw at you.
She didn't disappear.
She was just buried underneath everything you've been carrying.
And sometimes seeing yourself through someone else's eyes is enough to finally dig her back out.
And YES.
It should be.
Because somewhere along the way, women got taught that everything had to be serious.
Be responsible.
Be practical.
Be modest.
Be appropriate.
Take care of everyone.
Don't be too loud.
Don't be too sexy.
Don't take yourself too seriously.
Well…
Fuck that.
You are allowed to have fun.
You are allowed to play dress-up.
You are allowed to put on the ridiculous heels.
You are allowed to dance around the studio.
You are allowed to laugh until your stomach hurts.
You are allowed to feel hot as hell simply because it feels fucking good.
You don't need a reason.
You don't need permission.
You just need to let yourself enjoy being you.
This one is usually quieter.
And sometimes it comes with tears.
Because underneath the laughter and the pretty pictures, there's something deeper happening.
She's remembering herself.
Not the version of herself everyone needs.
Not the version who is constantly giving.
Not the version who is trying to keep everything together.
Her.
The woman who existed before the responsibilities.
The woman who still exists underneath them.
The woman who deserves to be celebrated without having to accomplish anything first.
And maybe that's why these sessions can hit so much harder than expected.
Because you aren't just walking away with photographs.
You're walking away with proof.
Proof that your body is worthy now.
Proof that you can be sexy now.
Proof that you can take up space now.
Proof that you can do something just because you fucking want to.
And maybe, most importantly…
Proof that the woman you've been waiting to become has been standing inside you the entire damn time.
So if you've been saying:
“I'll do it someday.”
“Maybe when I lose weight.”
“Maybe when I feel better about myself.”
“Maybe when life isn't so crazy.”
Let me lovingly be the blunt big sister you probably need right now:
Stop waiting.
You don't need to become a different woman before you deserve to celebrate this one.
Come exactly as you are.
Nervous.
Excited.
Curvy.
Soft.
Strong.
Shy.
Loud.
A little chaotic.
A little broken.
A whole lot of badass.
Come as you.
Because the woman who walks out of that session?
She's still you.
She just finally got to see herself the way everyone else should have been seeing her all along.
