Protect Your Peace Like It’s Designer

Babe, your peace is expensive.

So stop handing it out like it's free.

You know how we treat the things we love?
The designer bag gets put somewhere safe.
The good jewellery doesn't get tossed onto the bathroom counter.
The expensive shoes don't get worn through mud just because someone else doesn't understand why they matter.

So why the hell are we so careless with ourselves?

Why are we constantly explaining our boundaries to people who benefit from us having none?

Why are we answering messages we don't want to answer?

Saying yes when every cell in our body is screaming absolutely fucking not?

Making ourselves smaller, quieter, easier, more agreeable, more convenient so somebody else doesn't have to feel uncomfortable?

Nope.

We're not doing that anymore.

Protect your peace like it's designer.

Because it is.

Your time is valuable.

Your energy is valuable.

Your body is valuable.

Your attention is valuable.

And you do not owe everyone access to you simply because they know how to knock.

Sometimes protecting your peace looks like leaving.

Sometimes it looks like saying no.

Sometimes it looks like disappointing someone.

Sometimes it looks like letting people misunderstand you.

And sometimes?

It looks like choosing yourself even when nobody claps for it.

That last one can be fucking hard.

Especially if you've spent years being the woman who holds everything together.

The mom.

The wife.

The employee.

The daughter.

The friend.

The one everyone calls.

The one everyone depends on.

The one who somehow manages to keep showing up while quietly running on empty.

Eventually, you have to ask yourself:

When was the last time you showed up for YOU?

Not because somebody needed you.

Not because you were trying to prove something.

Not because you were trying to become more desirable, successful, productive, thinner, prettier, younger, or easier to love.

Just because you wanted to feel like yourself again.

That woman is still in there.

She hasn't disappeared.

She's just been buried underneath everybody else's expectations.

And maybe it's time to dig her out.

Maybe that's what confidence actually looks like.

Not walking into every room feeling fearless.

But finally knowing that you are allowed to leave the rooms that make you feel like you have to abandon yourself to belong.

That's powerful shit.

And that's part of why I believe so deeply in creating spaces where women can be seen without having to perform.

Because sometimes you don't need another person telling you who you should become.

You need somewhere safe enough to remember who the hell you already are.

A place where you can put on the ridiculous outfit.

Try the pose.

Laugh when it feels awkward.

Turn the lights down.

Let yourself be seen.

And slowly realize:

Oh. There she is.

The woman underneath all the noise.

The woman who takes up space.

The woman who knows what she wants.

The woman who doesn't need permission.

The woman who understands that being soft doesn't mean being available to everyone.

The woman who can love deeply without abandoning herself.

The woman who finally understands that boundaries aren't walls.

They're doors.

And you get to decide who gets a key.

So protect your peace, babe.

Protect it fiercely.

Protect it unapologetically.

Protect it like it's the most expensive thing you own.

Because it fucking is.

And if you've spent so long taking care of everyone else that you've forgotten what it feels like to choose yourself...

Maybe it's time to do something a little scary.

Something a little magical.

Something that reminds you that you're not just somebody's mom, wife, employee, partner, daughter, or best friend.

You're a whole fucking woman.

And she deserves to be seen.
